Winter in the Lake District is a special time, sometimes overlooked. It's the perfect place for a few nights of peace and quiet and a great opportunity to get a seat by the log fires in some of our fantastic pubs. Frosty days and uncrowded spaces, don't miss out this winter. Here are some up and coming events in the area
Kendal Farmers Market is held on the last Friday in every month and features some fantastic produce from local farms and small holders. Well worth a visit
Meet Postman Pat and Jess the Cat at Eskdale Railway on 5th, 6th and 7th May. Ride the Greendale Express as it journey into the heart of Eskdale Valley to Dalegarth. Tickets £13.50 Adults and £7.50 Children include a full day return travel ticket, ticket to Stu-Di-Doo's Magic show, Line Quiz and entry into free prize draw

Cartmel Medievel Festival - A dozen locations in Cartmel, Nr Grange-over-Sands. Acts as diverse as juggling, archery, medieval sports and a son et lumiere
I Spy Birds of Brockhole Various dates from 6th May onwards
Volunteers are in the bird hide at Brockhole to help you identify a wide variety of birds and animals in Woodlands surrounding at the Lake District Visitor Centre at Brockhole. This is a free event, no booking, just turn up.
Cruise and Dine Evenings on Coniston
Every Thursday evening during May except 3rd
Enjoy an early evening cruise on Coniston on the elegant Steam Yacht Gondola followed by a three course meal at the refurbished Blue Bird Cafe, Prices £36 available from Coniston Tourist Information Centre
Cartmel Food Market - 10am to 4pm Friday 18th May
In Cartmel Village adjacent to the priory- Popular Country Market features the finest food from around the area, inluding Farmers, Growers, Artisan Producers and Speciality Food Merchants
Brathay Windermere Marathon and Family Fun Day 10.30am Sunday 20th May
In association with the marathon there will be a free family day at Brathay Hall Estate from 11am - 4pm with a wide range of activities and games suitable for children of all ages. These include Canoeing, high rope course and mini races, a jazz band, BBQ, tea and refreshments and a beer tent are amongst the entertainment on offer.
